Os 50 anos deste disco
O álbum de estreia dos míticos Velvet Underground, com a cantora alemã Nico.
Gravado em Nova Iorque, sob supervisão e produção do artista
plástico Andy Warhol, «The Velvet Underground and Nico» foi editado no dia 12
de Março de 1967.
O encontro histórico da formação norte-americana composta por Lou
Reed, Sterling Morrison, Moe Tucker, o gaulês John Cale e a germânica Nico. Um
marco na história da música popular, que viria a influenciar imensas bandas e
artistas.
O “álbum da banana” está hoje na Rádio portuguesa. A RADAR inicia
todas as horas de emissão com um dos temas do disco e a Antena3 transmite um
especial sobre este trabalho inaugural dos Velvet Underground, entre as 21:00 e
as 22:00.
Da formação inicial, já só John Cale e Maureen Tucker estão
vivos. Andy Warhol morreu há trinta anos, em Fevereiro de 1987, Nico em 1988, Stering
Morrison em 1995 e Lou Reed em 2013.
